Acridones as Promising Blue Emitters for OLEDs

For smartphone and TV displays red, green, and blue organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are required. At present, blue OLEDs lack behind the red and green ones in terms of power consumption and lifetime. As a collaborative study with contributions from the Czekelius, Marian, and Gilch groups showed acridones like the one depicted are very promising in this respect. They emit in the deep blue range of the visible spectrum and can convert singlet and triplet excitons efficiently into light. Read more in our recent paper in J. Phys. Chem. Lett.
