The pharmaceutical psoralen derivatives 8-MOP, 5-MOP and TMP bind upon photo-excitation to DNA. The treatment of skin diseases via PUVA therapy is based on this process.

In our recent study we show by time resolved UV/Vis spectroscopy, that the population of the triplet state is a key factor for the effectiveness of the photo-binding. Our advances got published in the journal "Molecules".
